Did you read the last post on all the wonderful reasons to follow a Bible reading plan? Did you decide to jump into God’s word and download the free PDF? How is your daily time in the Word going? Have you been able to keep up or have you needed grace? Me? I’ve needed grace. I’ve already missed a day or two (maybe three). But oh well, I’m not going to let a few missed days ruin the next 11 1/2 months of being in God’s Word.
Several of us start the new year determined to be in the Word more, determined to get through this reading plan or that. We’re determined. Our hearts are in the right place. Our intentions are good. But… well… life can sometimes get in the way. Whether it is a sick kid or a busted water pipe in the middle of the night or a deadline that approached too quickly, there is always something that the enemy will use to whisper “you just can’t do this, why bother?” Or “there’s always next year, you’ll have more time next year, just wait until then.”
But what about this: There is tomorrow!! Heck, there is right now!!! There is more than enough grace to cover that didn’t-go-as-planned moment. So don’t listen to that voice of discouragement. It’s NOT a voice from the Lord, I promise! Pick up your Bible. Dive in and be ready for what the Lord wants to reveal to you — even if you happen to have missed a day or two in the reading plan. He will use your time in the Word — no time spent with Him is wasted.
Only by grace,
Kelli
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.Isaiah 55:10
P.S. Here is a little printable bookmark to encourage and help you stay on track as you read quietly through the Word this month. Just print, trim, fold, and voila — you have a cute little bookmark. It has this month’s reading schedule, as well as room for a memory verse of your choosing (scroll to the bottom for a few suggestions) and space for you to start a prayer list. I hope it comes in handy.

Suggested memory verses for January:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. Genesis 1:31a
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matthew 7:24-25
