Today, while reading how Jesus was transfigured on the mount (Luke 9:28-36), I was reminded to quiet my mind and focus on Jesus, not on my own plans or ideas.
Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” -not knowing what he said. While
he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” ~ Luke 9:33-35
I don’t know exactly what Peter was thinking when he spoke, but I think perhaps he should have stayed quiet and just took in God’s glory in what he was witnessing. God didn’t want or need Peter to do anything. A giant memorial was not needed to be erected in honor of the occasion. I believe that God just wanted Peter and the others to witness His glory and recognize who Jesus was.
