God didn’t sacrifice His Son on the cross to smirk and say “There! Your sins are paid for! Now you owe Me, you filthy sinner.”  He sent His Son to show us His true, unconditional love for each and everyone of us.  Yes, even you.

We are guilty of sin, we are sinners and a price had to be paid – must be paid – for our wrong doing.  But the beauty of the cross (I said beauty, ponder that for a moment) is that we no longer owe God for our sin, our sin has been taken care of. JESUS PAID OUR DEBT!  That is the point! Rejoice! Be thankful! Give praise! Be HAPPY!

Yes, your sin, my sin, our sin was the reason why Jesus stayed on the cross, but it wasn’t what kept Him there.  Jesus stayed on that cross because He loves you more than you can fathom.  He loves you more than anyone could put into words.  He loves you more.  He LOVES you!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ~ John 3:16

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8
