Hold Fast :: Quietly Through Thursday Link-up #14

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:1-2

Hold fast. Keep in memory. Keep secure. Keep firm possession of it. Retain it. Seize it. Stay your mind on it. Never let it go.

Never forget the reason – the first reason — you fell in love with Jesus.

Not the reason you started going to church. Not the reason you first started reading your Bible. Not the reason you first turned on the Christian radio station. Not the first reason you wondered, what’s this Jesus guy all about?

But the reason you fell in love with Jesus.

The Gospel. The Good News. The message of grace. The truth of never-ending, never-failing, won’t-ever-give-up-on-you love.

Cross love.

Resurrection love.

I’m-coming-back-for-you love.

I’m-already-here-for-you love.

Jesus love.

Love you don’t deserve, love you can’t earn, love you reject and neglect… yet it’s still there.

Love that make you fall in love.

Hold fast to that. Let nothing else — no religion, no tradition, no “This is my Bible interpretation” — ever let you loosen your grip on the gospel.

Hold fast. Hold fast to the gospel!

The true grace-filled gospel that caused you to fall in love with Jesus in the first place.

  1. It’s all about the gospel, isn’t it! It’s what saves us. It’s what keeps us. It’s what enables us to walk in His grace. We can’t possibly contemplate it enough. Thanks for hosting, Kelli, and for reminding us of the most powerful love in the universe!

    1. It really is the most important thing and yet, somehow, so easy to loose site of…even in churches. Which of course was the reason for Paul’s letter to the Corinthians.

Thanks for stopping by, Donna. And I am always happy to host. 🙂
